FLEX-Fusion: A Broadcast Live
The FLEX Fusion is the answer to a question that broadcast engineers running multi-camera outside broadcast encounter repeatedly: why should each camera position require separate wireless systems for video, data, and control when one system could carry all three?
On a production where every camera position needs a video feed for the vision mixer, IP network access for tally and diagnostics, and Sony shading control for the shader at the RCP, the traditional approach means at least two wireless systems per position. The FLEX Fusion consolidates all three functions into one transmitter-receiver pair. One system to rig per camera position, one set of batteries to manage, one frequency to coordinate for each position in your RF plan.
How the FLEX Fusion works
The transmitter accepts HD-SDI with a loop-through output and HDMI, both with embedded audio. It encodes and transmits the video wirelessly at under 1 millisecond latency on 5 GHz while simultaneously carrying Sony legacy camera-control data and IP network traffic on the same wireless link. Dual LAN ports (RJ45) on the transmitter provide network access at the camera end, and the Sony control interface connects to the camera via the legacy control protocol.
At the receiver, 2 x HD-SDI outputs and HDMI deliver independent video feeds simultaneously - vision mixer, confidence monitor, recording device - all from one unit. The receiver's LAN port connects to the production network at the truck or gallery end, and the Sony control data passes through to the RCP panel. Your shader works from the RCP exactly as they would over a cabled system. Your engineering team has full network access to the camera position. Your vision mixer receives a real-time HD video feed. All three arrive over one wireless link.

The Economics Of Consolidation
The operational and financial case for the FLEX Fusion on multi-camera productions is clear. At £225/day, the FLEX Fusion costs less than combining the FLEX IP (£175) and a CC-S700 from the wireless camera control range (£125) at £300/day for comparable combined functionality. It also removes one wireless system per camera position from the rig, which means shorter setup time, fewer batteries, fewer cables, fewer antennas competing for RF spectrum, and fewer systems to monitor and troubleshoot during a live transmission.
On a six-camera outside broadcast where every position needs all three functions, the difference between the FLEX Fusion approach and separate systems is six fewer wireless units on the rig, six fewer frequency allocations to manage, and a noticeably simpler technical operation from setup through to wrap.
Physical Specifications
The transmitter measures 132 x 100 x 26 mm and weighs 450 grams. The receiver is slightly larger at 163 x 97 x 26 mm and 550 grams. Both are compact enough for camera-top mounting on standard broadcast rigs and for standard rack or shelf installation at the truck end. The OLED display on both units provides instant visibility of signal strength, link quality, active frequency, and battery status.
Power comes from V-Mount and Anton Bauer battery plates at a wide 7.5 to 36V supply range - the widest supply voltage tolerance in the FLEX range - making the Fusion compatible with the broadest range of broadcast power sources.
How WaveHire Handles Your Hire
Every FLEX Fusion is tested by a technician across all three signal paths before dispatch. We verify video quality and latency on a live HD-SDI signal, test IP data throughput and network transparency through the LAN ports, and confirm Sony camera-control protocol handshake and shading response. All units ship with V-Mount or Anton Bauer battery plates, SDI cables, LAN cables, and antennas. You collect from our London facility with same-day collection available, or we arrange delivery to your venue.
If your production needs only two of the three functions, the FLEX IP and FLEX S700 cover those combinations individually. If your video return is handled separately and you only need Sony control and IP data, the CC-S700 and the wireless camera control range are more cost-effective. For pure wireless video monitoring without control or data, see our Wireless Monitoring range, or contact our team to talk through your build.
FAQs - FLEX Fusion
The FLEX Fusion is the only system in the WaveHire range that carries HD video, IP network data, and Sony camera control on a single wireless link. The FLEX IP carries video and IP data without Sony control. The FLEX S700 carries video and Sony control without IP data. The Fusion combines all three.
Yes. At £225/day, the FLEX Fusion costs less than the FLEX IP (£175) plus a CC-S700 from the wireless camera control range (£125) at £300/day for similar combined functionality. It also requires one fewer wireless system per camera position, reducing rigging time, battery count, and RF spectrum usage.
The transmitter accepts HD-SDI and HDMI from any broadcast or cinema camera. The Sony camera-control interface supports Sony broadcast cameras using the legacy camera-control protocol. The IP data connection works with any network-connected device regardless of camera make or model.
The CC-LINK COMBO carries Sony camera control and IP data only, without video, from the wireless camera control category. The FLEX Fusion adds HD-SDI and HDMI video transmission to those two functions. If your video return is handled by triax or another wireless system and you only need control and data wireless, the CC-LINK COMBO at £135/day is more cost-effective. If you need video wireless as well, the FLEX Fusion is the appropriate system.
Yes. While the FLEX Fusion delivers its greatest operational value on multi-camera outside broadcast, it works equally well as a single-camera solution for ENG, corporate live events, and studio broadcasts where video, network access, and shading control from one wireless link simplifies the technical operation.
Rated at 600 metres line-of-sight. In typical OB environments with stadium structures and temporary buildings between transmitter and receiver, reliable range for all three signal paths sits between 250 and 450 metres, sufficient for the camera-to-truck distances at the majority of broadcast venues.
