VITA Lite System: A Wireless Monitoring

Not every production needs 600 metres of wireless monitoring range. The director is sitting twelve metres from camera. The focus puller's cart is on the other side of the set. The client is watching from the room next door. For those productions - the majority, in practice - the Vita Lite System delivers the same sub-1 ms latency and image quality as the VITA PRO at a range that covers every practical distance on a standard shoot, in a form factor that adds nothing meaningful to the camera rig.

The Vita Lite System is a complete monitoring solution in the box. Transmitter and receiver, cables and batteries, tested and ready to use. There is no additional component to source or pair. You connect the transmitter to the camera, power up both units, and the director has a live wireless feed on their monitor.

How the Vita Lite System works

The transmitter takes HD-SDI from the camera with a loop-through output so the on-camera monitor or EVF stays connected. It transmits wirelessly on 5.1 to 5.9 GHz using OFDM modulation at under 1 millisecond end-to-end latency. Camera metadata - focus distance, iris, timecode - travels alongside the video, and record-trigger commands pass through so a DIT or camera assistant can roll and stop the camera remotely without a physical cable connection to the body.

The receiver outputs 1 x HD-SDI and HDMI to your monitor. Pairing between transmitter and receiver is automatic. Power both units on and the link establishes without any manual configuration. The OLED displays on both units confirm signal strength, link status, and battery level at a glance.

Build

Form Factor And Portability

The transmitter is 105 x 70 x 23 mm and weighs 260 grams. The receiver is 150 x 92 x 23 mm and weighs 240 grams. These dimensions matter on productions where the monitoring system needs to go somewhere other than a monitor stand at video village.

The transmitter is small enough to mount on top of a mirrorless camera, a compact cinema camera, or a lightweight gimbal rig without upsetting the balance. It goes on crash cams, drone rigs, and any setup where a larger, heavier transmitter would be impractical. The receiver is light enough to be carried on a focus puller's handheld monitor rig without fatigue over a long shooting day.

The Vita Lite transmitter is cross-compatible with the VITA PRO receiver and the Vita Lite Receiver, which means you can mix components across the VITA range to build the monitoring configuration your production needs without being locked into a single system configuration.

Choosing a system

When To Step Up To The VITA PRO

If your camera positions are consistently more than 150 metres from video village, or if you are working in an environment where RF interference or physical obstacles between transmitter and receiver are a factor, the VITA PRO gives you twice the range and enhanced multi-antenna reception for £35 more per day. For most studio drama, commercials, documentary, and corporate productions, the Vita Lite is the right system.

Getting started

How WaveHire Handles Your Hire

Every Vita Lite System is tested by a technician on a live HD-SDI signal before dispatch. We verify video quality, metadata pass-through, record-trigger functionality, and wireless stability. You collect from our London facility with same-day collection available, or we arrange delivery.

If you need to add monitoring points during the shoot, Vita Lite Receivers at £80/day each pair directly with the Vita Lite transmitter. For longer range and enhanced multi-antenna reception, see the VITA PRO System, or hire a standalone Vita Transmitter to add a camera. Contact our team to talk through your build.

Questions

FAQs - Vita Lite System

Absolutely. The Vita Lite delivers the same sub-1 ms latency and HD-SDI video quality as the VITA PRO. The difference is range - 300 metres versus 600 metres - and the number of HD-SDI outputs at the receiver (one versus two). For the majority of professional productions where monitoring distances are within 150 metres, the Vita Lite is the right choice.

Yes. The Vita Lite transmitter is cross-compatible with the VITA PRO receiver and the Vita Lite Receiver. This gives you flexibility to build mixed configurations across the VITA range based on what each monitoring point needs.

The transmitter weighs 260 grams and measures 105 x 70 x 23 mm. The receiver weighs 240 grams. Both are genuinely compact and light enough for gimbal, drone, and crash-cam applications where weight and size affect the rig's performance.

Yes. Timecode, camera metadata, and record-trigger commands all pass through the wireless link alongside the video signal on the Vita Lite System.

The receiver outputs HD-SDI and HDMI. It connects to any production monitor with either input including SmallHD, TVLogic, Atomos, Flanders Scientific, and any consumer display with an HDMI port.

Choose the VITA PRO when your monitoring distances consistently exceed 150 metres, when RF interference or obstacles between transmitter and receiver are a concern, or when you need 2 x HD-SDI outputs at the receiver for multiple simultaneous destinations. For standard studio and location distances, the Vita Lite at £90/day is the more practical choice.
