VITA Transmitter: A Wireless Monitoring

The Vita Transmitter is the camera-end unit for crews who need to add a wireless video feed to an existing monitoring setup, who already own a compatible receiver, or who want to build a custom configuration without hiring a complete TX and RX system.

The most common scenario is a production that has already hired a Vita Lite System or VITA PRO System for their main camera and now needs to add a second camera to the monitoring setup. A second complete system is one option. The more cost-effective approach is a Vita Transmitter (£50/day) paired with a Vita Lite Receiver (£80/day) - a complete second wireless monitoring link at £130/day rather than the full system cost.

How the Vita Transmitter works

The transmitter takes HD-SDI from the camera via the input port. A loop-through output passes the same signal to the on-camera monitor or EVF, so the camera operator keeps their local reference while the wireless feed goes to video village, the focus puller's cart, or any other monitoring point. Camera metadata - focus distance, iris value, timecode - travels alongside the video signal automatically, and record-trigger support means a DIT or camera assistant can start and stop recording remotely.

Transmission happens on 5.1 to 5.9 GHz using OFDM modulation at 23 dBm transmit power with 40 MHz bandwidth and under 1 millisecond end-to-end latency. Two RP-SMA external antenna connectors allow optimal antenna positioning based on the specific layout of your set. The OLED display shows signal strength, link status, active frequency, and configuration.

Compatibility

Compatibility

The Vita Transmitter pairs with both the VITA PRO receiver and the Vita Lite Receiver. This cross-compatibility means you can hire just the transmitter and pair it with whichever receiver suits the monitoring requirement at the other end - the VITA PRO receiver for 2 x HD-SDI outputs at video village, or the Vita Lite Receiver for a compact single-output monitoring point.

Build

Build And Practical Considerations

Size is 105 x 70 x 23 mm. Weight is 260 grams. Two RP-SMA antennas. Supply voltage 7.5 to 24V. Operating temperature range of minus 5 to 40 degrees Celsius makes it suitable for both studio environments and UK outdoor location work. At 260 grams, it sits on top of a mirrorless or cinema camera body without meaningful balance impact, and it mounts on gimbal rigs, drone underslungs, and crash-cam positions without requiring significant counterweight adjustment.

Getting started

How WaveHire Handles Your Hire

Every Vita Transmitter is tested by a technician on a live HD-SDI signal before dispatch. We verify signal transmission, metadata pass-through, and record-trigger functionality. The unit ships with two antennas and power cable. You collect from our London facility with same-day collection available, or we arrange delivery.

If you need a receiver to pair with it, the Vita Lite Receiver at £80/day is the natural companion. For a complete TX and RX kit out of the box, see the Vita Lite System or the longer-range VITA PRO System, or contact our team to talk through your build.

FAQs - Vita Transmitter

The Vita Transmitter pairs with both the VITA PRO receiver and the Vita Lite Receiver. This cross-compatibility lets you hire just the transmitter and pair it with whichever receiver fits your monitoring requirement.

Hire a Vita Transmitter (£50/day) and a Vita Lite Receiver (£80/day). That gives you a complete second wireless monitoring link at £130/day. Compared to hiring a second complete Vita Lite System at £90/day, the individual components cost more, but if you already own or are hiring a receiver, the transmitter alone at £50/day is the most economical option.

Yes. The transmitter has an HD-SDI loop-through output so the on-camera monitor or EVF remains connected while the wireless signal transmits to remote monitoring points. The camera operator keeps their local reference at all times.

Yes. At 260 grams and 105 x 70 x 23 mm with two RP-SMA antennas, it adds minimal weight to a camera rig and does not require significant counterweight adjustment on most gimbal systems.

Yes. Focus distance, iris value, timecode, and record-trigger commands all pass through the wireless link alongside the video signal when the transmitter is connected to a camera that outputs this data.

The Vita Transmitter works with the VITA PRO receiver and the Vita Lite Receiver. The receiver then outputs HD-SDI and HDMI to any compatible production monitor. The transmitter itself does not connect directly to a monitor.
